Archives reflection

Pick a piece you saw in the university archives and write me a reflection on it. You might want to pick:

Here is the list of items we looked at in the archives. If you missed the archives visit or want to go back to look at materials again, check the library website for archives hours. When I checked, the hours were listed as “9am-Noon & 1-4:30pm (appointment recommended).”

In your reflection, try to respond to some of the questions from the sheet we had,

  1. Who created the source? When was it created?
  2. What was the purpose of the source? Who was the intended audience?
  3. How does the creator’s message come across? What data display methods do they use?
  4. What other information would you want to know?
  5. What do you notice first?
  6. What do you notice that you didn’t expect?
  7. What do you notice that you can’t explain?
  8. What do you notice that you didn’t earlier?

You might also want to comment on the mappings, whether you thought it was really data visualization, anything about the creation methods, etc.
